Equipment and adaptations which help people who have problems with everyday tasks through
illness, old age or disability, are available through an integrated service between
Social Services and Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust. The aims of the service are to
maintain people’s health, well being and independence. Equipment available
includes, home nursing equipment, equipment for daily living, minor adaptations
like grab rails, lever taps etc., ancillary equipment for people with sensory
impairment, communication equipment for the speech-impaired and telecare equipment.

Carelink helps older people or people with physical disabilities who feel
they require support to enable them to stay in their own home. Carelink is
an alarm system run by the Wolverhampton city council which provides help at
anytime of the day or night through out the year. Carelink allows vulnerable
people to continue to live an independent lifestyle safe in the knowledge that help,
in an emergency is available at the push of a button.

Social Services can help you maintain your independence at home it you are aged between
18 and 65 and have a serious physical disability. The team provides service to younger adults
who have serious and complex physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy,
spinal injuries, motor neurone disease or head injuries.
The service involves assessment of your individual needs, needs of carers and arrangement of personal care at home.
